Major Events in Development of the
Build Green New Mexico Program
Our History
Established the first green building program in New Mexico and only third in the nation.
Developed the first green building standards in New Mexico and registered the first Green Builder in program.
Began sending representatives to Washington D.C to help develop National Green Building Standards.
Worked with DOE in Washington D.C. to develop a Build America Energy Efficiency program in New Mexico.
Established the Build Green NM program and adopted the National Green Building Standards as certification standards for the energy/water efficiency and healthy indoor air quality of qualifying homes in New Mexico.
One of the founders of New Mexico Green Builder program launched the national Green Builder Magazine with his partner.
Worked with the New Mexico State Legislature to adopt the Sustainable Building Tax Credits (SBTC) for homeowners and builders who met and were certified under the Build Green NM standards.
Registered the first home in New Mexico certified under the Build Green NM standards and which qualified for the significant credits under the 2006 SBTC.
Over 10,000 homes in New Mexico now certified under the Build Green NM standards, which has continued to raise for certification as code changes have occurred since the original program in 2006.
